BA (Hons) Illustration
"Every project gave me the opportunity to develop – professionally and personally – and, in turn, each is created through research and experience.
"The Alice in Wonderland cover is inspired by shadow puppets and imaginary friends and exploits the popularity of Alice and her topsy-turvy adventures. Carrie is as my mother described her own wartime school uniform and Alice and Carrie are based on friends’ daughters.
"Outer space and questions of ‘what’s out there?’ influence my illustrations; one a self-portrait and three here from my story, ‘A Cosmic Chorus’, about a child who finds her own voice through amazing space facts.
"My final project, ‘Because My Name Is Chimpanzee’, is about discrimination and identity and is inspired by a fierce passion for animal rights."
