MA Photography (Visual Communication)
"The image as signifier and text has always interested me as part of a wider psychogeographical exploration of place and space.
"For my MA Photography (Visual Communication) project work, I have developed and created a body of experimental films, photographs and zines, examining subjects which are often encountered and dismissed for their seemingly unappealing characteristics - whether that be signs, construction work, discarded objects, ruins or paths in urban or rural settings.
"Ideas of absence and presence; movement and stillness; space and boundary; and inner and outer landscapes have all contributed to my investigations. As a visual artist, I see my role as endowing the image with a language which challenges established expectations, in the process soliciting a response from an audience - whether the image is on the page, online or on a gallery wall or screen."
