MA Graphic Communication
On the MA Graphic Communication programme, you’ll learn about the role of contemporary graphic design practice within historical, cultural, aesthetic and technological contexts.
You’ll also develop various methods of representation and presentation, in order to produce an ambitious, cohesive body of design work.
Through our online study website, you’ll receive unlimited one-to-one tuition from tutors who are all experienced design professionals. This is also where you’ll discuss projects with your peers, and upload your work for assessment and feedback.
This MA will prepare you for a successful career as a graphic designer, and for design-related roles in digital graphics, online media, communications and marketing, publishing, advertising and many other related fields.
IDI ticked all the boxes for me: a good choice of subjects, the choice to study part-time around my current commitments, no need to find time to go to a campus, and most importantly, a good reputation with a connection to a real and well-respected university in The University of Hertfordshire.
IDI appeared like a community to me because, although everyone was studying different subjects, everyone would have the same passion at heart. Some may question how this is possible, but through IDI forums I have honestly made a whole new friendship circle.
When I was younger, I never really had the opportunity to go from school to university. It was nice to have the opportunity later on in my career to go back and do something that I had always wanted to do.
Our online MA Graphic Communication is taught across six semesters, delivered over two years.
Each semester consists of twelve weeks of study followed by four weeks of assessment processes.
While studying, you’ll be expected to set aside a minimum of 15-20 hours per week for your directed activities. You should also consider additional time needed to read supporting materials, upload your work to the site, and for discussion with your tutors and peers in the forums.
What Will I Learn?
MA Graphic Communication
You will study a number of interdisciplinary modules alongside students from related art and design subject areas, while also specialising in your own discipline. You will be encouraged to approach each module from the point of view of your own individual practice, as well as developing skills in collaboration and an understanding of working in the Creative Industries within graphic design.
