Design a Unique Creative Project
As part of your MA studies, you’ll devise and deliver a completely personal graphic communication project, exploring your own creative and commercial interests.
You’ll refine the skills, creativity and understanding necessary to work as a professional practitioner in graphic design, providing evidence of your preparedness for employment to potential employers and clients.

Develop Your Individual Vision
Throughout the MA programme, you’ll be encouraged to set out your personal ‘manifesto for change’ and define your future contribution to the creative graphic design sector.
You’ll consider your own design practice in relation to local, national and global art and design practices, and develop your awareness of your position within the wider creative industries.
Creative Industries: Global Perspectives, Research and Practice
Pitch and Present Professionally
As part of your studies you’ll learn how to present yourself and your work to a range of potential clients, employers and audiences relevant to your design practice.
You’ll develop a digital presence through a range of activities designed to enhance your portfolio, and gain an understanding of how to negotiate the demands of different stakeholders.
Creative Industries: Professional Presentations
Become a Creative Entrepreneur
Throughout the MA Graphic Communication programme, you’ll pitch new ideas, exploit emerging technologies and devise original, innovative visual work that responds to contemporary design challenges.
You’ll be encouraged to challenge your assumptions about the creative industries, and will develop an awareness of current debates and insights at the forefront of graphic design.
Embrace Global Collaboration
Through your MA studies you’ll engage with a global cohort of your peers, expanding your networks and growing your awareness of the impact of international graphic design.

Creative Industries: Business Perspectives
The Interactive Design Institute has been partnered with the University of Hertfordshire since 2008, with the aim of giving everyone the opportunity to get their creative degree from a UK university without having to attend on-campus.

Start Dates & Schedules
The two-year MA graphic design programme is taught across six semesters.
While you’re studying, we recommend you set aside a minimum of 15-20 hours per week for activities, as well as additional time to read supporting materials and for discussion with your tutors and peers in the forums.
