“Never give up on someone with a mental illness. When ‘I’ is replaced by ‘We’, illness becomes wellness.” – Shannon L. Alder

“Unlike general mood swings, in bipolar disorder, the sense of time can be easily lost. Depression episodes seem inescapable, causing a feeling of never-ending desperation. Mania episodes are experienced as a burst of inexhaustible energy; correspondingly, overestimation of one’s abilities and risk-taking behavior becomes boundless.

“The aim of my MA study has been to raise awareness of bipolar disorder, and to wipe off the stigma attached to this mental illness – and so, ‘Fragments’ was created. My goal has been to teach people about this disorder, clarify the effects of social and self-stigma, and try to vanquish false beliefs associated with mental illness in general.”
