“The photographic series, Urban Identities, was the result of my year-long MA Photography study and took the shape of an observational, documentary record of the urban environments of Pakistan. This is a visual record of a personal experience of finding a new way to connect with a foreign culture.

“Influenced by the work of the New Topographics, new objectivity and contemporary photographers such as Janet Delaney and Richard Chivers, Urban Identities is a study of the way in which our global, national and local development is shaped by our environment and how we in turn are shaping our habitat. Working across six cities between Islamabad and Lahore, I document what the urban landscape narrates of the culture, society and way of life, and what this tells us of the nature of development in this fascinating and complex country, vulnerable to misconception and prejudice.”
