“OBSESSION explores the use and growing dependency society today has on smartphone technology. This work is a study of our relationship with these devices, and how they have begun to shift social culture and behaviours. This technology has allowed us to change how we represent, present and express ourselves online and in reality.
“The work aims to highlight this growing need we have for technology, how it makes us feel, and how we relate to the world around us; and to force us to think about our own attitudes and behaviours as a result of using these devices.
“The self-portraits explore the areas of our lives where this technology has become acceptable yet intrusive: such as in the bedroom, at work or in the car. The dark low-key illuminated images suggest how sheltered and lonely we can be in this age of instant social media and communications.”
