Karen Morton

My art explores the cycle of life, death, rebirth and the elements and seasons of the year as our planet turns.

The roots of this cycle come from the point in history where humans ceased to be hunter gatherers and settled to work with the land, planting and cultivating seeds for the future, which they harvested and stored to keep them through the lean months of winter. We had learned to respect Mother Nature and live in harmony with her seasons and other creatures. Through centuries of anthropocentric belief and capitalist greed we have forgotten how.

My work is about getting back in tune with our inner spirit and the Earth’s natural rhythms before we destroy ourselves through taking far more than we give. I believe in the power of positive thought.

My site specific installations and performances connect with nature and create a focus for reflection and realignment.
