“Shown here is a selection of work produced throughout my studies, including my Final Major Project. For that project, I have taken inspiration from Leonard Cohen’s poem ‘This Is Mine’. ‘As the exhibition title, ‘This Is Mine’ suggests the young exhibitors taking control and reshaping their future. This is symbolised by the person ripping back the poster to reveal the creative typography below, and stating “this is mine”.

“The original poem by Cohen has been said to be a homage to Leon Trotsky’s bitter polemic written in exile in 1936, ‘The Revolution Betrayed’. This links to the new political revolution that is occurring all over the globe today, and the references to Marxism in today’s anti-establishment sentiments.

“I have kept the orange colour of the typography beneath the tear on all of the posters and introduced appropriate material on each. I have kept the bland, cold colours to keep the contrast. The concept is empowering and inspiring, aiming to empower the creative youth of today to make a better life for themselves and future generations.”
