“Based upon the brief theme of ‘Identity’, for my major project I designed a classics collection for the publisher ‘Paramour Publishing’.
“The design problem established was that the books within the collection do not share a genre in common – so many of the design tropes found in more traditional book cover designs could not be used to communicate the genre and themes of the individual novels, as they needed to be seen as a cohesive collection of books.
“To do this I developed a design scheme. During my research, I found that the use of colour was instrumental in other collections for distinguishing subjects and themes. I coupled this with strong use of iconography to clearly indicate elements from each novel.
“A new brand logo for the publisher, which forms a heart icon to demonstrate the love of books, was created using the form of an open book.”
