“As an illustrator my work stems from a place of personal identity.
“The first project is an alphabet book about historical places in India. The idea came from the recent trend in India where school textbooks are being changed to suit a right wing Hindu ideology. I wanted to create a book for children, which draws from our rich secular heritage.
“The alphabet book is an exploration of the diverse cultural heritage of India. I have used coloured ink, watercolours, cutting, sticking, digital photography and finally the Adobe Suite to create this work. It has been a long labour of love to produce.
“The last two images are from another project for a book I am creating called ‘Almirah – Stories from a Cupboard’. They explore people from my life and the stories and objects that they left behind. They were created using drawing, painting and collage.”
