“Reviving the Ruins is an illustrated series that advocates the conservation of world heritage, and commemorates sites, artefacts, and figures affected by modern conflicts.

“The series consists of original gilded watercolour paintings, printed post cards, and a collection of postage stamps. Together, these items were created to support the #Unite4Heritage campaign by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

“While the images pay tribute to lost heritage, they also provide a counterbalance to the negative images of destruction streaming through media outlets. By highlighting unique details and referencing historical context, the series helps to document cultural identity so that it is not lost to future generations.”
