I’ve always been interested in exploring the origins of our visual imagination and investigating how the history of ideas has impacted on creative practice throughout centuries. This is the reason why I feel my background in Art History, Art Psychology and Visual Cultures are an essential part of my current art practice.

After obtaining a Master of Arts in Art History and a post-master diploma in Art Management Psychology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, in 2012 I was awarded my PhD in Visual Cultures by the School of Creative Industries the University of the West of Scotland. More recently (May 2015) I was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning HE by the Glasgow School of Art and have become a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research and teaching activities have been paralleled by my activity as a media artist. My work has been presented in collective and solo exhibitions and performances in Europe, Asia and the U.S.

My greatest achievement

My greatest achievements are my research projects in which I have managed to successfully combine investigation into cultural histories, traditional mythologies and Eastern and Western philosophies with my creative practice as a visual and performance artist.

About my research

Since 2004, I have undertaken a great deal of research on contemporary visual cultures, with the partnership and support of international institutions such as the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, the University of the West of Scotland, Silpakorn University of Bangkok, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Scottish Art Council. Research outputs have been presented in volumes and essays, at conferences and international symposia.

My research work has been integrated with the following roles: associate lecturer in Art History at the University of Rome; tutor in Critical and Contextual Studies at the University of the West of Scotland; visiting lecturer in Fine Art at Silpakorn University, Bangkok. Since 2011, lastly, I have been working as tutor and module leader for Critical and Cultural Studies at the Interactive Design Institute.
